THE WEDDING CHECKLIST

  10 - 12 Months Before the Event
    
Set a Date
    
Set a budget
    
Choose a style for the wedding
    
Contact wedding consultants, advisors or coordinators.
    
Divide the duties with your fiancee and include him in all the decision making
    
Choose and book locations - ceremony - rehearsal dinner - reception - other planned events (most places are booked well in advance)
    
Choose and book Caterers, Bakers, Photographers, Florists, Videographers, Musicians
 


   
 7 -  9 Months Before the Event
    
Select and ask all of your attendants
    
Start compiling your guest list. 
    
Contact and visit clergy or justice of the peace
    
Begin shopping for wedding dress and attendant’s dresses
    
Register with a Bridal Registry for gifts
    
Start discussing the honeymoon plans with your fiancee - visit a travel agency - check on your passports if you are going out of country
    
Plan the reception menu

    
 
 4 - 6 Months Before the Event
    
Review the details with all of your wedding professionals 
    
Finalize honeymoon plans with fiancee and book with a travel agent. 
    
Shop for and order invitations and announcements 
    
Finalize music selection for wedding and reception 
    
Shop and order the men's formal wear 
    
Book wedding transportation
    
Make the rehearsal dinner plans

    
  2 - 3 Months Before the Event
    
Order the wedding rings
    
Finish the guest list
    
Shop for Lingerie, Honeymoon Clothes, Attendants' gifts, your gift for your fiancee and any pre & post wedding party clothes you might need
    
Finalize catering, bakery and floral arrangements
    
Reserve a block of rooms for your out-of-town guests at a hotel close to the reception
    
Finalize arrangements for any rental items you may need (candelabra, silver pieces, archways, lighting, etc.)
    
Make appointment with your hairdresser (a trial run for next month to avoid  disappointment)
    
Make appointment with your hairdresser (final)
    
Make appointment for your nails (hands and feet)
    
Make appointment with a makeup artist (a trial run for next month to avoid  disappointment)

  4 - 8 Weeks Before the Event
    
Mail your wedding invitations (you may want to include either a preplanned special itinerary for early arriving out-of-town guests or an “around the town” activity sheet)
    
Final fittings for you and your attendants
    
Send local paper and wedding publications your announcement and photograph
    
Write “Thank You” notes as you receive bridal and wedding gifts
    
Reconfirm rehearsal events and rehearsal dinner reservations
    
Always keep in touch with any professionals you have hired (for peace of mind)
    
Pick up the wedding rings a month before the wedding, incase any resizing is necessary
    
Get marriage license with your fiancee
    
Reconfirm honeymoon reservations (don’t forget foreign currency if you are going out of country)
    
Submit request lists to your musicians, photographer and videographer
    
Formally invite wedding party and guests to the rehearsal dinner
    
Confirm all transportation for all events (including the honeymoon)
    
Prepare all the necessary forms for name address changes on social security card, credit cards, bank accounts, post office, drivers’ license, etc.
    
Arrange to move belongings to new home
    
Create a schedule of events for the wedding day
    
Create a speech list and inform those making the speeches so they can prepare    

Finalize a list of photos you would like to have taken and discuss with your photographer, also let those people required for the photos know to make themselves available
 


   1 Week Before the Event
    
Pack for your honeymoon
    
Check final details with all your wedding professionals - early in the week
    
Give final guest count to the caterer
    
Create a wedding day schedule with your fiancee
    
Remind wedding party men to pick up tuxedos
    
Remind attendants of rehearsal dinner agenda
    
Double-check rehearsal dinner plans
